What to expect
- Works best with PDFs created digitally — exported from Word, a browser or another application.
- Headings keep their size and weight, but are not tagged as Word heading styles, so a table of contents won’t pick them up automatically.
- Tables drawn with borders become Word tables. Tables without borders may come across as aligned text.
- Scanned or image-only PDFs are not run through text recognition (OCR): their pages come across as images, and you’ll be told when that happens.
- Multi-column pages, text boxes and complex layouts may need some touch-up in Word. Password-protected PDFs are not accepted.
